Nexgard Spectra Flea & Ticks Chewables Treatment
Nexgard Spectra is an advanced version of Nexgard. It is broad spectrum treatment for both external and internal parasites. The beef flavoured chewable tablet kills fleas, controls intestinal worms and prevents heartworms. It eliminates fleas before they lay eggs and controls flea and tick infestation. It is also effective against mite infestations in dogs. It treats and controls sarcoptic mange, demodectic mange and otodectic mange. The oral tablet destroys different worms including roundworms, hookworms and whipworms. It can be used for the treatment strategy of flea allergy dermatitis as well as flea tapeworm infestations. The monthly chewable tablet is highly palatable and protects dogs against various parasites.
Nexgard Spectra is recommended for all breeds and puppies from 8 weeks of age and 2kg or more.
How Does Nexgard Spectra Work?
Nexgard Spectra consists of two powerful ingredients - Milbemycin Oxime and Afoxolaner. The active ingredient Afoxolaner is a potent insecticide and acaricide, which kills fleas before they lay eggs and controls flea population. The active ingredient interfere with the nerve cells (neurotransmission) in the nervous system of parasites, leading to paralysis and ultimately, elimination of the parasites. The other ingredient Milbemycin oxime is an antiparasitic endectocide. The powerful anthelmintic kills intestinal worms and immature forms of heartworms. Monthly treatment protects dogs from the multiple parasitic infestations.
How does Nexgard differ from Nexgard Spectra?
Nexgard and Nexgard Spectra chewables belong to the same Nexgard family. The difference between the two is the active ingredient composition and their range of parasitic treatment. Both chewables have afoxolaner that fights external parasites, including fleas, ticks, mange, and mites. NexGard Spectra has one additional active ingredient, Milbemycin Oxime that works against parasites feeding inside the dog's body. This includes gut worms (hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm), eye worm, lungworm, and prevention from fatal heartworms.
Does Nexgard Spectra kill all stages of fleas?
NexGard Spectra has the efficacy to kill adult fleas quickly before they lay eggs. This prevents environmental flea infestation. Administering treatment every month all year long will keep your canine and home environment protected from flea infestation.
Does Nexgard Spectra have any side effects?
Like any other flea and treatment, NexGard Spectra can also cause side effects in some dogs. In most cases, the side effects that were mostly noted were digestive issues, including vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Other side effects that occurred were itching, skin irritation, and lethargy. In rare cases, severe side effects were also reported, like seizures and other neurological issues.
