How To Observe This National Kids And Pets Day?

National kids And Pets day was started as a movement way back in 2005 by an animal lover and mother named Colleen Paige. The objective of the movement was to lay emphasis on the role of a pet in a kid’s life and to aware people about the condition of homeless animals in shelters and across the country.  Every year on 26th of April, the day is celebrated as a reminder to pay heed to issues surrounding our kids and pets.

As a pet parent, ask yourself following questions to make this day a significant event of the year in your life-

Am I Teaching My Kid How To Handle A Dog/Cat?

Apart from the fact that pets love the company of children, there are instances of kids being bitten by dogs and cats. Therefore, the first thing a pet parent should keep in mind is to never leave small children alone in the company of pets. At the same time, children are to be taught the correct way to pet a dog or cat.

For example, it is not wise to pet a dog on his head from behind. Similarly, kids must be taught how to show compassion to a furry pal and when to leave them alone.

Am I Ensuring A Pet Friendly Environment In My House?

Children learn and act on what they see. Means, it is very important to create a pet friendly atmosphere in your home so that your child replicate the same in his behavior when dealing with pets.

Am I turning My kid Into A Better Future Pet Parent?

This is a million dollar question, which every pet parent comes across when seeing his child playing with the pet. Every parent wants his child to be a better pet parent than him. Moreover, the basic idea behind celebrating this event is to turn our kids into pet friendly individuals. This in turn will help the cause of making this world a more animal friendly world.

National Kids And Pets Day is more than just an occasion or event. It is a remembrance day to cherish the value of pets in our society, their role in shaping our kids personality in a more positive manner.  At the same time, it also reminds us to take note of the conditions in which homeless pets’ live in shelters waiting for someone to adopt them.
